Parupalli Kashyap breaks into top-15, reaches career-high ranking

India’s top ranked men’s singles player Parupalli Kashyap broke into the top-15 for the first time, climbing six spots to reach a career-high ranking of 14 in the latest World Badminton Federation (WBF) rankings released today.

Kashyap made the climb following his singles triumph in the Syed Modi International tournament in Lucknow.

Among the other Indian men, Ajay Jayaram retains his last week’s 31st ranking, while RMV Gurusaidutt moved up one spot to be placed 38th.

However, Sourabh Varma dropped six spots to 40th, while Anand Pawar fell one spot to 51st.

There was more gains for the Indian men. B Sai Praneeth jumped eight places to be 50th, while K Srikanth advanced seven spots to occupy the 62nd position.

HS Pranoy also climbed seven places to be ranked 86th, while old warhorse Chetan Anand jumped 15 spots to be at 110th.

Anup Sridhar fell one spot to 109th while Arvind Bhat dropped three places to be at 105th.

In the women’s singles, Saina Nehwal still occupies the number three spot, while PV Sindhu advanced five places following her runners-up finish in the recent Syed Modi International tournament to be at 19th spot.

Among other Indian women, PC Thulasi moved up one spot to be at 94th, while Arundhati Pantawane advanced two places to be ranked 107.

Neha Pandit dropped seven places to be 108th while Tanvi Lad retains her last week’s ranking of 113.
