Saina eyes another success at Indonesia Open Super Series

India’s star shuttler Saina Nehwal will look to live up to the sky-high expectations when she leaves to play the Djarum Indonesia Open Super Series 2013, to be held in Jakarta from 10-16 June, 2013.

Saina Nehwal, who has been seeded second, will open her campaign against local hope Lindaweni Fanetri. This would be the first meeting between the two. Fanetri, ranked no. 14 in the world, has won the Syed Modi Indian Grand Prix earlier this year.

If Saina manages to clear the first round hurdle, she will face the winner of the match between Porntip Buranaprasertsuk and Sayaka Takahashi in the round of 16.

Should the Hyderabadi clear the first two obstacles, she will potentially face seventh seed Chinese Shixian Wang in the quarterfinals. This match would be the first real test for the Indian at the tournament.

If Saina manages to get past her Chinese opponent, she will yet again have to clear a tough hurdle as she will potentially face any of the other seeds (Wang Yihan, Juliane Schenk, Ratchanok Intanon).

The 23-year-old Indian, is likely to face World no. 1 and top seed for the tournament, Li Xuerui in the summit clash, if she defeats her semifinal opponent.

It is certainly not going to be an easy outing for Saina Nehwal, who had pulled out of the Sudirman Cup due to hairline fracture. But let’s not refrain from mentioning the fact that this tournament has been the most successful one for the Olympic bronze-medallist.
