Saina Nehwal says she still lacks confidence

Indian Badminton star Saina Nehwal has admitted that she lacks confidence even after she guided the women’s team to a 5-0 victory in the Uber Cup.

Saina had a good start today after beating Jocelyn Ko 21-4, 21-12 in just 25 minutes at the Siri Fort Complex in Delhi, and speaking after the match she said, “I think still there are lots of tough matches ahead which I have to play. There is Hong Kong tomorrow. I have lost few matches recently so the confidence is still lacking. But I have seen some difference in my game when I played today. I could see my strokes have improved after the training”.

Asked about her fitness, Saina revealed, “Nobody can say a player is 100 percent. Everyone is here and there and I think it is about how you find your rhythm and how good you play in that tournament and it is just starting. So lets us just wait for other matches and see how it goes.”

The Olympic bronze medallist also reiterated that her team could go past the quarterfinal stage of the Uber Cup. “We have chances of reaching the quarters and the team is doing well so I also hope we can cross the quarter stage. So let’ see,” she finished.
