In the ongoing Sunila Barve Memorial Maharashtra State Sub-Junior Badminton tournament, the star smasher from Nagpur – Ritika Thaker emerged as the brilliant performer for Nagpur as she stormed into the quarterfinals of all the four events she is participating – U-13 Girls Singles, U-13 Girls Doubles, U-15 Girls Singles and U-15 Girls Doubles category on Wednesday 9 October, 2013. This Sub-Junior Badminton tournament is being organized at the Poona District & Metropolitan Badminton Association (PDMBA) Hall in Pune, Maharashtra.
Ritika Thaker is a student of the Centre Point School (Katol Road) and she was successful in booking her spot in the last-8 of the U-13 as well as U-15 Girls Singles and Doubles category. Malvika Bansod was the other Nagpur girl to make her way into the quarterfinals of U-13 Girls Singles category.
Nikhil Wadekar of Kohlapur faced defeat against Sourabh Kerhalkar in the pre-quarterfinals. The 14-year old boy Sourabh registered an easy victory to seal his quarterfinal spot by defeating Nikhil 15-8 and 15-11. Sourabh – a student of Somalwar Nikalas, will now face Sai Dinesh Reddy from Mumbai for booking the semi-final berth on Thursday.
