25th FIBA ASIA Championship for Women: East Asians dominate Day 2

East Asian teams dominated the DAY 2 of the 25th FIBA ASIA Championship for Women at Bangkok, Thailand.

Korean’s domination in the FIBA ASIA Championship for Women continued in the DAY 2 as it thrashed its South Asian neighbours India 109 – 62 to win the second match in a row.

Koreans dominated the entire match by taking all the four quarters 29 – 16, 29 – 9, 21 – 20 & 30 – 17 respectively. Danbi KIM netted game-high 25 points for the Koreans while Geethu Anna JOSE netted 17 points for India.

Meanwhile, China defeated 103 – 62 Kazakhstan to win its first match of the championship. China took first three quarters 27 – 9, 28 – 18, 27 – 14 respectively while the last quarter was tie with both teams scoring 21 points each.

Below are the DAY 2 results of the championship.

Level 1

  • Korea 109 – 62 India
  • China 103 – 62 Kazakhstan
  • Japan 69 – 57 Chinese Taipei

Level 2

  • Indonesia 79 – 45 Hongkong
  • Philippines 62 – 55 Uzbekistan
  • Thailand 60 – 56 Malaysia

Total of 12 teams are participating in the 25th edition of the FIBA ASIA Championship for Women which is ongoing at Bangkok from October 27 to November 3, 2013.

The championship is divided into two levels; Level 1 and 2, with 6 teams participating in each level. China, Chinese Taipei, India, Japan, Kazakhstan and Korea will compete in Level 1 while Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Uzbekistan will compete in Level 2 of the championship.

Top three teams from the championship will qualify for the FIBA World Championship for Women to be played in Turkey from September 27 to October 5, 2014.
