FIBA Africa U-18 Championship: Egypt beat Tunisia 80-69 to win the trophy

Egypt were crowned FIBA Africa U-18 men’s champions after they defeated Tunisia 80 – 69 in the final of the 2014 FIBA Africa U-18 Championship for Men held at Palais des Sports, Antananarivo, Madagascar.

It is Egypt’s sixth U-18 continental title. Ahmed Abdelrahman netted game high 24-points for Egypt, while Bassem Alian contributed 20, and Mahmoud Elsayed added 18 for the Egyptians. Both Egypt and Tunisia will represent FIBA Africa at the 2015 FIBA U-19 World Championship. In the battle for the third place, Mali defeated Angola 75 - 65 to claim the bronze medal.

N’fali Kanoute sparked the Malian side with 18 points and 6 rebounds, while Gerson Domingo’s 19 points were not enough to avoid Angola’s fourth defeat in the tournament.
