FIBA Asia U-18 women's championship: India to play in Elite Level 1

The 22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship for women is all set to start in Amman (Jordan) from Oct 10 – 17, 2014. The championship will feature two levels; 1 and 2.

South Asian powerhouse India will take on China, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Chinese Taipei for the top honours in Asian women’s basketball in the elite level 1 of the championship. The teams will play each other and the top four qualify for the semi-finals of the championship.

Six other teams – Hong Kong, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia and Sri Lanka – will will play in the qualifying level II of the championship with the top two teams having a shot at qualifying for next edition's Level I competition.

The 22nd FIBA Asia under-18 Championship for Women is the qualifying event for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship for Women to be played in Russia. The top three teams from the 22nd FIBA Asia under-18 Championship for women will represent FIBA Asia at the 2015 FIBA U-19 World Championship for women.
