Inaugural 3x3 National Basketball Championships begin

New Delhi, April 10th, 2013 – The Basketball Federation of India declared open the first ever 3×3 National Basketball Championship for Men and Women representing various states of India today. The 3×3 format of basketball envisages the equivalent of T-20 of Cricket.

There was an inaugural lamp lighting ceremony followed by performances from various dance troupes representing different states of India. The championship was then declared open by the Chief Guest and Rajya Sabha member Mr Trilochan Singh, Vice President, IOA. Also present on the occasion were Mr Teja Singh, Vice President, Basketball Federation of India along with Ms. Roopam Harish Sharma, CEO, Basketball Federation of India & Secretary Delhi Basketball Association, Mr Ajay Sud, Secretary General, Basketball Federation of India, Mr M. Venkatesh, Vice President, Basketball Association of India and Mr Prempal Singh, Deputy CEO, Basketball Federation of India.

The first leg of the championship development program started today continues till 11th April, 2013, and will see the most talented and skilled players in action. The championship will be followed by a presentation ceremony on 11th April, 2013 to felicitate the winners.

The exciting matches are a short 10 minute game each, covering half a court. 4 matches will be played simultaneously in the indoor courts at Thyagraj Stadium, creating a thrilling environment.
