India defeats Malaysia to keep level one spot at women's FIBA ASIA under-18

Indian under-18 women’s team defeated Malaysia 81 – 76 to remain in the level one of the FIBA ASIA U18 championship for women.

In the first play off match of the 22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship for women, India hold their first half lead to defeat Malaysia and to remain in the level one of the championship. India took first two quarters 25 – 15 and 16 – 11 respectively to got the half time break with 15 points lead. Despite Malaysia taking the last two quarters, 29 – 13 and 21 – 17, India hold on to win the match by 4 points and most importantly to remain in the level one of the championship.

In another playoff match of the championship, Thailand defeated Hong Kong 73 – 41 to remain in the level one of the championship.

22nd FIBA ASIA U18 Championship for women is played in two levels. Elite level one consists of six teams – China, India, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Chinese Taipei while six other teams – Hong Kong, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia and Sri Lanka – playing in Qualifying Level II.

The 22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women is the qualifying event for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship for Women to be played in Russia. The top three teams from the 22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women will represent FIBA Asia at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship for Women.
