Indian men's basketball team travel to Turkey for FIBA preparation

The Indian men’s basketball team has travelled to Turkey to prepare for the upcoming 27th FIBA ASIA Championship for men scheduled to be held at Manila, Philippines from 1 to 11 August 2013.

The team arrived at Istanbul on July 20 and will be training in Turkey until July 29. Along with the training, the team is scheduled to play four matches against various professional clubs in Istanbul.

Earlier in South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Zone Qualifiers, which was held at Thyagraj Stadium, New Delhi from June 2-4, India beat Nepal and Afghanistan to qualify for the biggest basketball event in Asia.

The 27th FIBA ASIA Championship will be the first outing of head coach Scott Flemming with the team. India is placed in Group D with Kazakhstan, Bahrain and Thailand in the 27th FIBA ASIA Championship for Men.

The Indian squad: Sambhaji Kadam, Narender Kumar Grewal, Pratham Singh, Vinay Kaushik, Arjun Singh, Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, Amritpal Singh, Joginder Singh, Satnam Singh Bhamara, Amjyot Singh, Yadwinder Singh, Rikin Shantilal Pethani.
