Nepal ready for maiden international participation in Wheelchair Basketball

Moral is very high and the coach & players are very excited in the wheelchair basketball training center at Kathmandu, Nepal as they prepare for Nepal’s first international participation in wheelchair basketball.

Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sports Association (NSCISA) is sending Wheelchair Basketball team to participate in the Wheelchair basketball tournament which will be held during the 13th Asian Spinal Cord Network (ASCON) conference from 27 to 29 November 2014 at Bangladesh. It will be a historic maiden participation from Nepal in international wheelchair basketball tournament. Different countries from Asia will send Wheelchair Basketball teams to participate in the wheelchair basketball tournament during the 13th ASCON conference.

17-member Nepal wheelchair basketball contingent to travel to Bangladesh includes 10 players, 1 coach, 4 officials and 2 medical personals.

Despite the limited resources, Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sports Association is working hard to promote sports among differently abled people of Nepal. This international participation will encourage more persons with disability to engage and play wheelchair basketball.

Since its establishment in 2009, Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sports Association has organized various national level sports events for the persons with disability in Nepal. Apart from sports, NSCISA is focusing on the advocacy, awareness, capacity development and livelihood of persons with disability.
