Indian boxers reach women's World Championships quarters

Indian pugilists Shamjetsabam Sarjubala, Pavitra, Saweety and Kavita reached the quarterfinals of the Women's World Championships on Thursday.

In the 48 kg category, Shamjetsabam Sarjubala defeated Tumurkhuyag Bolortuul of Mongolia 3:0 while in 64 kg Pavitra defeated Tsoloyeva Zarina of Kazakhstan 2:1.

However, it was disappointment for Maisnam Meena, in 54 kg, who lost to Zholaman Dina of Kazakhstan 1:2. Basumatary Pwilao lost to Perijoc Lacramioara of Romania 1:2 in 57 kg.

In the quarters Friday, Sarjubala will meet Suguro Aldriani of Indonesia while Pavitra will fight against Beliakova Anastasiia of Russia.

In the 81kg, Saweety will meet Marsic Anamarija of Croatia and in the +81kg Kavita will be up against Magomedalieva Zenifira of Russia.
