Raahil Mullick, seven-years-old Indian boy wins gold at Asian chess championship

Raahil Mullick, seven year old boy from India, Mumbai, won the FIDE Candidate Master title as winner of the U-7 Open at the 10th Asian Schools Chess Championships 2014 held in Taichung, Taiwan from 23rd to 29th August 2014. Raahil finished in first place upsetting top seed, Amir Amirul Faiz of Malaysia.

He emerged on top of the U-7 Open group that saw battles for top position between players from India, Malaysia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka. He played nine rounds over seven days under the Swiss League system, employing an attacking style of play. The tournament was organized by the Chinese Taipei Chess Association under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation and FIDE and attracted over 230 players from 15 countries.
