Asad Rauf was involved in betting in IPL 2013, writes Ed Hawkins

According to The Cricket Country, author of the book ‘Bookie Gambler Fixer Spy’, Ed Hawkins mentioned in his blog that Pakistani former first-class cricketer and international umpire Asad Rauf was involved in betting in the matches he was umpiring in IPL 2013.

According to the police, Rauf is suspected to be involved in betting in various matches and he is also suspected for passing important information about matches to various bookies. Since the allegation, Asad Rauf has been kept out of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires by International Cricket Council.

Asad Rauf is known for his controversial life on and off the field.

During the sixth edition of IPL, the tournament came into big controversy for match-fixing by players. Many players like S. Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan were found guilty for match-fixing and they were given life ban for their acts.
