Bangladesh seamer Al-Amin Hossain reported for suspected illegal bowling action

Al-Amin Hossain is the 6^th bowler to be reported this year

Bangladesh fast bowler Al-Amin Hossain has become the latest bowler to be reported for a suspected illegal bowling action and will undergo testing for the same within the next 21 days in either of the two ICC accredited laboratories located in Cardiff and Brisbane.

The 24-year-old seamer has played 4 Tests, 9 ODIs and 9 T20Is so far.

The right-arm seamer was reported after his team went down against hosts West Indies by 10 wickets in the first Test of the two-match series at Kingstown. The bowler went wicketless in his both innings and conceded 52 runs. The seamer is the sixth bowler to be reported since July and first who isn’t an off-spinner.

Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal was recently suspended from bowling after the test results proved that all his deliveries exceeded the 15 degree allowance. Hossain is the second Bangladeshi bowler after Sohag Gazi to come under the scanner this year. Kane Williamson of New Zealand, Prosper Utseya of Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka’s Sachithra Senanayake were the other suspected spinners.

ICC is keen to hunt down the ‘chuckers’ ever since the issue came up in the ICC cricket committee meeting in June. The committee made recommendations to help match officials get additional help from biomechanists to identify the chuckers.

The bowler can continue bowling in international matches till the test results are disclosed.

Hossain was the highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded ODI series against West Indies, picking 10 wickets in 3 matches at an average of 17, with career-best figures of 4/51 and 4/59 in the 1^st and 3^rd ODI respectively.
