Frustrated Sportskeeda author asks for DRS after 10th successive article gets declined

In a bizarre case never seen before on popular sports website Sportskeeda, an author has appealed to the UDRS to reverse a decision on his article being declined.

“Ten articles of mine in a row have been declined!,” says the furious author, who chooses to remain anonymous (although we will reveal that he is a satire writer). “I have produced gems such as ‘Sachin Tendulkar or Vinod Kambli – Who’s the Better Dancer?’, ‘An analysis of Shane Watson‘s latest hairdo’, ‘An incomplete list of cricketers whose names start with vowels (other than U)’, and ‘A rough translation of Virat Kohli‘s abuses in 101 Indian Languages’. How can they reject such masterpieces?,” he raged.

The DRS, long considered controversial (only by the BCCI, however), will now be used. The writer in question ran up to a nearby umpire at Shivaji Park with a printout of the ‘declined’ email and yelled ‘HOWZAAAAAAAT!’ The umpire was unsure what to do, and just signalled dead ball.

When contacted, an editor, who also prefers to remain anonymous, retorted, “That guy keeps sending us crap everyday. At one point of time he even sent us ‘Exclusive!!!!!! Sachin Tendulkar practicing Sultans of Swing solo in bedroom!!!’ which turned out to be a very blurred video of himself, and he missed half the notes in any case. He is free to appeal to whoever he wants!,” before going on to edit the grammar in an article from active to passive (you could say he was becoming tense).

“Perhaps he is forgetting that the BCCI has not allowed UDRS in India,” he suddenly turned back and said, with the same expression that Venky Prasad had after dismissing Aamer Sohail.

Meanwhile, other editors of the site are worried about what will happen if everyone started demanding DRS for their articles. “Madness… We would need extra editors and stuff,” said one.

Another editor looked at a potential upside and said there was room for being a good sport. “Just like we always applaud Sachin Tendulkar for being a good player who always accepts umpire decisions, we would now call writers good sports if they accept without argument their article being declined”, said one editor.

“Haha, there is also scope for Adam Gilchrist-like behaviour, where a person declines his own articles – without needing to bother the editors!,” he guffawed.

In an unrelated case, a doctor who treats sports bloggers said that there’s a new spurt of people with declinitis – a fear of an article being declined on Sportskeeda.
