Belagavi Panthers have played two KPL finals

Bangalore, July 23, 2015: Belagavi Panthers, twice finalists of the Karnataka Premier League in the three editions gone by, have received a big boost with Atul Srivastava of Gaames Merchandise Pvt Ltd joining hands with P R Nagesh of Subhas Enterprises as co-owner from season IV of the tournament.

Their coming together earmarked a partnership to promote cricket in Belagavi and Karnataka on the whole.

The new partnership is certain to not just keep the Team Management and players focused on winning their first title, but also at the primary goal of promoting mofussil talent.

Speaking on the tie-up Atul Srivastava, CEO, Gaames Merchandise Pvt Ltd said, “We have been involved with cricket for 10 years doing various things like player management, running of academies which we call Center For Excellence, merchandising for ICC IPL teams and few others; we are consultants for many National boards”.

“The KPL is new for us. After meeting A.R Nagesh and Panthers’ CEO Joseph Hoover, we saw the need to get involved and get the Brand of Belagavi Panthers ahead. We visualize a world class team from Belagavi Panthers in the future and we want to use our expertise in developing talent seriously in Karnataka”, he added.

Elaborating he said, Our space is cricket and we want to stay in our space and develop the game. Nagesh is a good person and a good partner and I have a lot of trust in the KPL. It is a new business for us and we want to take it forward”.

Asked if it was a difficult choice to partner Belagavi Panthers, Atul said, “There were other offers to partner teams. But the Panthers’ performances and the credentials of the people who run the team made it easy for us. It was a no brainer who we wanted to partner once we met Nagesh and his team”.

Nagesh, MD, Subhas Enterprises, while welcoming Atul onboard as Panthers’ co-owner also thanked him for being a willing partner to achieve a common goal of developing Belagavi and Karnataka cricket”.

“What I have planned for institutions I hope will materialize in the next 12 months with the help of Atul and his company”, he added.

Speaking on the occasion P.R Ashok Anand, Hon President, KSCA welcomed Atul and said, “I am happy that Srivastava has joined the KPL family.”

“I still remember last year’s final between Belagavi and Mysore and it was alike an IPL contest, a very close affair. Nagesh has been a part of KPL from the inception and the KSCA is grateful for his support and we hope Belagavi Panthers will dish out quality cricket this time too”.

Belagavi Panthers, originally owned by P R Nagesh of Subhas Enterprises Ltd and Subhash Chandra of Sangeet Mobiles, has been an integral part of the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) from the inception of Karnataka’s premier T20 bash which began in 2009.

The team was launched by the Legendary Sachin Tendulkar in the inaugural year of the tournament and the team has figured in two of the three finals, underlining the seriousness and determination of the team management and players.

While they are yet to win the title, Belagavi Panthers have won many hearts and are considered the team to beat in the KPL.
