The dressing room at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, to be used by the Indian cricket team for all matches in the future has been named after Indian batting legend Rahul Dravid, The Indian Express reports.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted an image of the ‘Rahul Dravid dressing room’ on its official twitter account, which unsurprisingly drew appreciation from a number of cricket fans across the country who hailed the move by the governing body.

The Holkar Stadium at Indore, which is currently hosting the 2nd ODI between India and South Africa, has been a happy hunting ground for the home team as they have won all the three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) played at the venue – twice against England and once against West Indies.

Dravid played a crucial role in the only match he played at Indore which came against England way back in 2006. Chasing the target of 289 set by the visitors, Dravid, walking alongside Robin Uthappa as a makeshift opener, made 69 runs from 79 balls and shared a 166-run partnership that laid the foundation for a comfortable seven-wicket victory for the hosts.

Considering the achievements and records Dravid have accomplished throughout his illustrious playing career, no honour will be too great for this Karnataka batsman who is undoubtedly one of the greatest cricketers to have ever played the game. But the reason the BCCI bestowed this honour of naming the home dressing room after Dravid is the fact that, unknown to many, the current coach of the India A team was actually born in Indore before moving to Bangalore at a very young age.

Dravid thus joined the likes of other Indian legends like Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar who have the home and away dressing rooms at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali named after them respectively. So no wonder the Dravid news raised the intrigue of some cricket fans who wanted to know who the away dressing room will be named after.

One other fan pointed to the fact Sachin Tendulkar has his own stand at the Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai and wanted the BCCI to make a similar move for Dravid as well at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Whether the above questions will be answered or not, only time will tell. But the cricket-crazy fans in India would be hoping that the name of Rahul Dravid inspires the Men in Blue to display their absolute best every time they come to play at Indore.
