ICC has announced the schedule of the third round of the ICC Intercontinental Cup and the ICC World Cricket League. Ireland looked good after they beat Namibia and UAE, securing a maximum of 40 points in the second round, ICC reports.
Looking at the points table, Ireland are undefeated in the cup till now and stand at the top with Netherlands below them at 26 points and Afghanistan at the third position with 21 points.
The winner of the ICC Intercontinental Cup will qualify for the ICC Test Challenge, against the team which is ranked 10 in 2018. They will play on a home and away basis. By winning the ICC Test Challenge which will be a 4 match series, the winning team will get Test Recognition till the next edition in 2022.
Hong Kong and Scotland go against each other while UAE will host Scotland on 21st January, winners will face Papa New Guinea in the round three of the tournament which is set to be in Australia from 31st January to 3rd February.
The ICC World Cricket League’s group has been a rather deep one with 4 teams tied on 6 points after the first 4 games. The top 4 teams out of the eight participating nations in the league will qualify for the ICC World Cup Qualifier, which is scheduled to be held in Bangladesh in 2018.
