If tennis players were international cricket teams (past 10 years)

Roger Federer – Australia: Greatest of his generation, some even consider him to be the best of all time, but has steadily declined over the past two years, though he shows temporary signs of resurgence from time to time.

Rafael Nadal – England: Started off his career with sporadic success but made gradual improvements every year before finally claiming the No.1 ranking. While he lost a number of times to Federer initially, seems to have got his ‘number’ and has a better head-to-head record off-late, though he will always live in the shadow of Federer.

Novak Djokovic – India: Always been a strong contender but never really had big success outside his favourite surface, hardcourt. Rose suddenly to claim the top spot but has followed it up with a comparatively poor year, losing his top ranking in the process

Andy Murray – South Africa: Need I say more? Consistently good player and much is expected of him, but always falls short at the final hurdle. Needs to improve his mental toughness and play the big matches better.

David Ferrer – Sri Lanka: Always tries his best with limited talent available and gives the ‘Top 4’ a good run for their money. Has never really been among the top though and tends to tire as the match gets longer.

Tomas Berdych/Jo-Wilfred Tsonga – Pakistan: Mercurial. Can be brilliant on their day and beat just about anyone but can have their off-days as well. Inconsistent and have temporary spells of brilliance.
