India is the number one side in the One day internationals and the number two in Tests and their captain MS Dhoni is all set to rewrite records in the upcoming tour of South Africa. The previous Indian teams has had a very poor record in South Africa but MS Dhoni is sure that his side will fight hard to win the series against the Proteas.

“It’s a contest between well positioned teams and it will be an interesting series. The ODI series will be played first so we will have some time to adjust”, the Indian captain said.

However, Dhoni is well aware of the task on hand and admits that it will be India’s toughest tour because of the bouncy tracks but also feels that India is on a high as they have had a very good year till now.

“The conditions are different but we have done well in the year so far and have momentum on our side. We have time on our side and will like to have longer practice sessions there.”

Dhoni said that India is well aware of the threat of Dale Steyn but is confident that the batsmen of his team are good enough to blunt the South African pace battery.

“They (South Africa) have a few players who are god-gifted. And it is always a challenge when you play against a home team. Vijay and Shikhar have done well for us. We also have several other members who are coming after a good domestic series. It will be an interesting series for sure.”

Although India has been fantastic this year in all formats of the game, MS Dhoni is well aware that the series against South Africa will test the mettle of his side. The ODI series starts from the 5th of December and the Indian team left for the rainbow nation on Sunday evening.
