World Cup winning Captain Kapil Dev was furious during a media event ahead of the Kabaddi World Cup where he was asked why the Pakistan team was not invited to participate in the tournament. Tension between the two nations is running high as four gunmen took the Indian-Administered town of Uri by surprise last Sunday and killed 18 soldiers. It is regarded as the deadliest attack on security forces in over a decade, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has clearly stated the involvement of Pakistan in the attacks.

As per reports, it was learnt that the suspects were a part of a terror group based in Pakistan called the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), which is known widely for their deadly attacks in India-controlled Kashmir to force the withdrawal of troops.

As per the reports of NDTV Sports, Kapil Dev said, "If you are a Hindustani you should not ask the question at all. Is it the time to ask this question?” referring to the Uri-attacks a couple of days ago.

The Kabaddi World Cup is scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad from 7 October, and the ‘Hurricane from Haryana’ was present at the event to unveil India’s team jersey for the tournament. Reportedly, a total of 12 teams are set to participate in the meet including India but neighbours Pakistan have been taken off from the World Cup.

The former India skipper also felt that such decisions should be taken by the Government, and admitted that sports stars are always ready to give their full effort if that’s the need of the hour. "Such things should be left to the government to decide. As sportsmen representing the country if we are told to jump into a pond, we will readily do it,” said Kapil.

This feud is not only confined to kabaddi, we have seen other games also getting affected, like cricket which draws the most attention. It’s been quite a while since India and Pakistan faced each other in a bilateral series. The only occasion the two sides meet is during an ICC event or at a neutral venue. The internal ‘tensions’ and ‘cold wars’ have made it impossible to maintain a healthy relation among the two Asian nations.
