Karun Nair

Karun Kaladharan Nair, a young player from Karnataka, has displayed his excellence in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Karnataka has already reached in the finals of the Ranji Trophy and will take on Maharashtra from 29th of this month at Hyderabad. K K Nair has contributed substantially in this glorious journey for Karnataka.

All right, let us begin from the basics. K K Nair is a right hand bat and right arm off break bowler. He has played for India under 19, Karnataka under 15 and Karnataka under 19. In the IPL he plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was born on December 6, 1991, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Thus he is 22 years old – at a perfect age to make his mark and push for international selection.

Before we move forward, I intend to simply give the following data for the learned readers. So far Nair has played 5 first class matches and 8 innings – already scoring 430 runs. Thus, his average is an amazing 61.42. This young batsman, who has a lot of potential, has scored 3 centuries in the last three matches – that too while facing the fairly good bowling attacks of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab.

This sincere and committed cricketer prefers to play in a relaxed manner, with a positive approach. Although on his debut against Punjab in December 2013, he was not able to do much, but he has made a fine comeback. He has already become the talk of the town. He was able to identify weaknesses in his technique and really worked hard to overcome his shortcomings.

He has got a good footwork and is a good runner between the wickets. Fitness is the key word for him. He is known to be a man of few words, but his sincerity to finish any given task in a comprehensive manner speaks volumes about the talent he possesses. The best part is that he takes the initiative and always exerts control over the situation without taking any stress. This ability stands him apart from the other upcoming batsmen and I strongly believe that this composure will help him in achieving many milestones in the years to come.

Given the stiff competition among the new and talented batsmen – ranging from Sanju Samson, Vijay Zol, Unmukt Chand, Mandeep Singh to Jiwanjot Singh – Nair to stay focused and keep working hard. His future seems to be bright, provided he is able to maintain the tempo and the consistency with the zeal to learn more. We wish him luck for the finals of the Ranji trophy and hope that he will display his skills again by striking another splashing century.
