MS Dhoni's voice is always present, says Virat Kohli

The Indian Test team’s Dressing room just does not seem the same to Virat Kohli. After replacing Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the team's full-time Test captain, the aggressive batsman said in Fatullah on Sunday that he missed not having his senior around during the one-off Test match against Bangladesh.

Kohli was named the Captain of the Indian Test team, after Dhoni retired from the five-day format in December last year, during the tour of Australia. India’s one-off test match against Bangladesh, which ended in a draw after several twists and turns, was the first full Test series under the captaincy of the 26-year old.

Many, including former Indian Captain, Sourav Ganguly, praised Kohli for the decesions taken during the course fo the match, Kohli admitted that not having Dhoni in the side was something he and the other players were coming to terms with.

"It's obviously strange," Kohli said. "The same thing happened when Sachin Tendulkar retired. A few games after that it was a very strange feeling. You suddenly don't see a very impactful figure in the dressing room. As a cricketer, you always get used to having him around, listening to him, having discussions with him."

M.S.Dhoni is considered as one of India’s most successful captain in all formats of the game. With 90 Tests under his belt as captain, he led the India with confidence and was considered a team player. Kohli also stated that, what Dhoni taught his players over the years, is thoroughly entrenched by all players.

"That voice is always there and it's a very familiar feeling in the change room," said the Delhi batsman.

Dhoni will retain his position as captain and lead his men for the ODI series against Bangladesh, starting on Thursday (June 18). Kohli will take up his role as the deputy as the visitors look to dominate over the home team.
