I am not a great player, lucky to be playing in an easy era: Younis Khan

Younis Khan

Younis Khan, who scored a double century against Australia in the second and final Test match of the ongoing series in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has said that he would just like to be remembered as a team man and not compared to the likes of Inzamam-ul-Haq and Javed Miandad, as he believes that his run-scoring is helped by playing in a batting friendly era.

Having crossed the 8000-run mark at the end of the first innings of the Abu Dhabi Test, Younis is currently third in the list of all-time run getters in Pakistan cricket, behind only to Miandad (8832) and Inzamam (8829).

The 36-year-old, whose hat-trick of centuries in the series has taken his tons tally to 27, said: "I am not great .. like Javed, Inzamam, Yousuf or Hanif Mohammad. I can't compare myself with them."

"The era I am playing in is easy for me compared to theirs. I want to be remembered as a team-man who loves to serve and his performance makes his country proud and win."

Wants a clean sweep against Australia

In reply to Pakistan’s mammoth first innings score of 570/6 declared, Australia could only manage 261. With the home team not opting to enforce follow on and leading by 364 runs into the third session of Day 3, they look all set to clean sweep the series, which is what Younis wants to see, too.

He said: "Obviously when you score runs and contribute a lot in the game you want the team to win comprehensively so I have a desire that we manage to pull a whitewash. But it isn't easy for us, we still have to put the hard work in as despite the fact we have good spinners Australia have been in such situations more than once and it's a familiar case for them."
