Railways cricketer Rohan Bhosale hit on the neck during a Ranji Trophy match

Railways batsman Rohan Bhosale was hospitalised after being hit on the neck while fielding at short-leg during his side’s Ranji Trophy encounter against Tamil Nadu at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in the 63rd over of the innings, when Tamil Nadu batsman R Satish played a hard-hitting sweep off the bowling of left-arm spinner Ashish Yadav.

The 26-year-old was carried off the ground in a stretcher and was taken to the Apollo Hospital in an ambulance.There is no confirmation yet on whether the right-hander was unconscious on the field.The Railways team management is of the opinion, that he was conscious.

An official from the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association(TNCA) said that the hospital authorities have informed that the player has "regained consciousness".

The Mumbai-born cricketer has played 15 First-Class matches so far, ever since making his debut against the same opposition in 2008 in Nasik.

He is unlikely to play any further part in the match.
