RCA vice-president Manvendra Singh dead in car crash

The vice-president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association, Manevendra Singh Rohet died on Sunday after his car crashed head on with a water tanker. The accident took place near Pali at 2 pm approximately.

The accident also claimed the life of his driver. The collision was so intense that the car was unrecognisable and the bodies had to be extricated with some difficulty.

According to the police officials, Rohet’s car collided head on with the water tanker in order to save a motorcycle.

Rohet is survived by his hotelier son Siddharth Singh who also happens to be an eminent polo player. Rohet, who was also a cricket and polo fan, had served the Jodhpur Cricket Association as its President for the last 28 years.

Rohet lost an election in 2009 contesting under a Congress ticket from the Pali constituency.

He was on the board of the Mayo School and the Chopasni Mayur School in Jodhpur. He was holding the position of Up Zial Pramukh of Pali.
