The Justice Mukul Mudgal committee, which was given the responsibility of looking into IPL betting and match fixing allegations, is likely to recommend expulsion of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from the Indian Premier League (IPL), according to DNA sources.

The committee thoroughly investigated the allegations for a four-month period, and it is now believed that they have requisite evidence against Gurunath Meiyappan, co-owner of CSK and son-in-law of N Srinivasan, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Srinivasan, who is currently the ICC Chairman, has maintained throughout this long-drawn-out saga that he wasn’t aware of the supposed misdemeanours of his son-in-law, but the committee believes that the 69-year-old too was complicit in the whole affair.

"How can one believe Srinivasan had no idea of what was going on inside the team dressing room and at the dug-out? The panel has found sufficient evidences against certain players and officials. It's waiting for Team India players to return from England to take this inquiry further. Meiyappan and team CSK are certainly in trouble and their wrongdoings have been mentioned in the interim report submitted to the court," sources said to DNA.

The Supreme Court will probably be extending the Mudgal committee's tenure on Monday. Besides Justice Mudgal, additional solicitor general L Nageshwar Rao and advocate Nilay Dutta are also part of the panel. Senior IPS officer BB Mishra along with his group of officers also assisted the panel in the investigation, and they were given search-and-seizure powers as well.

The panel is now waiting for the Indian team, who are currently in England, to return in order to take the probe to its conclusion.
