The much-anticipated wedding of star India limited-overs cricketer, Yuvraj Singh, that is supposed to happen sometime in December this year, has already lured his fans towards it. The cricketer got engaged to a British model, Hazel Keech, in December last year. Since then, it has been a talk of the town as to when the couple would tie the holy knot, and it was revealed earlier this year that it would happen in December.
However, that was the only spoon of information that his fans had about the high-profile wedding up until now when the cricketer divulged things about the ceremony during an episode of a popular Indian comedy sitcom. A source on the sets of the Kapil Sharma Show – the comedy show in discussion here – revealed to the Times of India that the marriage ceremony would be a mix of Sikh and Hindu practices.
Upon being asked about the secrecy that the couple had maintained over their union, the source informed, Yuvraj jokingly said, “I'm afraid that if I speak too much, too many people may land up at the venue and I may not get entry myself.”
Took a lot of time for Yuvraj to convince Keech
The aforementioned source also revealed that it took Yuvraj some time to get Keech by his side, and to convince her for the relationship.
“He revealed that for the first three years, he kept trying to get her to meet him for coffee. She would agree every time he messaged her, but on the appointed day, she would switch off her phone and not turn up,” said the source.
Yuvraj had first approached Keech through the social media and after becoming friends in the virtual life, the 34-year-old sought help from a common friend in order to arrange a meeting with the model. It was then that the romance between the two blossomed after the ‘all-rounder’ persevered for over a year.
Thenceforth, the friends starting spending a lot of time together, and gradually, Keech gave in to Yuvraj’s efforts and their relationship was made official. Soon, the Punjab-born cricketer approached her parents and convinced them about his feelings for their daughter and also showed them how successful he had been in life as a professional cricketer.
Ironically, Keech, who is a British, did not know much about Yuvraj – the cricketer – at all, let alone any expectation of her knowing about the six sixes that he had hit against her fellow Britisher, Stuart Broad.
“Much like her family, Hazel, too, is clueless about cricket and her beau's achievements on the field. When quizzed on the show she didn't even know against which team Yuvraj had hit his famous six sixes in an over. When Kapil mentioned that it was against England, she was surprised as she is British herself and Yuvraj joked that he has stopped discussing cricket with her,” mentioned the source.
