Ganguly gave his opinion on Nagpur’s pitch

Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly praised India’s Test team captain Virat Kohli for the attitude and aggression he shows on the field, reports IBNLive.

Kohli-led India defeated Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka after 22 years before putting a full stop to World number one, South Africa’s away win record. The changes in the Indian Test team are visible especially since Kohli took over the captaincy.

“He (Virat) is a good leader ... he will be a good leader, but I have said before challenges for Indian captains is not in India its away. I like him. I like what I see on the field, he wants to win, he is passionate, you can see on the field and India has hopes on him," Ganguly said.

Ganguly has always been a close observer of cricket since he has retired. He is also a part of the BCCI’s advisory committee besides VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar.

He added Kohli always wants to win and that is very good for the team. He heaped praises over the 27-year-old player and said: "I am a big fan of Virat Kohli. He is a captain who always wants to win matches on the field and I love that passion in him. I love the attitude and aggression in Kohli."

The Nagpur Test match between India and South Africa finished inside three days and the pitch came under heavy criticism after that. Cricket fraternity from all around the world took to Twitter and other social media platforms to show their anger on the track as the Proteas registered their lowest score in a Test innings (79 runs) while playing against India.

Both the teams were bowled out on Day 2 of the 3rd Test, leaving South Africa 278 runs to win with 8 wickets remaining. The visitors failed to chase the target and were all out on 184 runs.

By countering the critics, Dada said the pitch was fine and batsmen could have done better. "It's ok, I thought, the batsmen could have batted better, the balls have turned there is not doubt about it, it turned, there was a lot of help for spinners. I think it's a one-off thing, I don't think India will produce such pitches," he added.

Ravichandran Ashwin picked 12 wickets in the Nagpur Test and was almost unplayable by the South African batsmen. Speaking about the Tamil Nadu spinner, Ganguly quipped: “On these pitches, you have to bowl in right areas."
