Cricket’s a team game alright. But sometimes individual gems overshadow the whole team effort and outshine any other performance in the side. Batsmen, who score a majority of runs in an innings, are one example.

Sir Viv Richard’s 189* vs England in 1984 is considered one of the greatest ODI innings of all time. That day, he almost single-handed won the match for West Indies and rescued the team from deep trouble. At a time West Indies were stumbling at 102 for 7 in 27th over, came a memorable batting display by Richards who scored 189* in 170 balls with 21 fours and 5 sixes.

He scored almost 70% runs of the total team score, the highest ever percentage of individual contribution to a team total.
