Under 19 Tri-Series: India overcome Bangladesh to remain unbeaten

India U-19 team defeated the Bangladesh U-19 team by 4 wickets in the fourth match of the ongoing ODI tri-series where Afghanistan U-19 is the third team.

Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first at Jadavpur University Complex in Kolkata. The start was fairly sluggish as they scored just 27 runs till the 12th over when Joyraz Sheikh lost his wicket to Mayank Dagar.

The number three batsman Nazmul Hossain was the next to depart three overs later. The other opener Saif Hassan scored 33 runs and was the fourth wicket to fall with only 81 runs on the board.

Mehedi Hasan Miraz (Captain) was the lone fighter for the Tigers scoring 87 runs in 90 deliveries. He constructed the largest partnership of the innings with wicketkeeper Jaker Ali for the fifth wicket worth 63 runs.

Bangladesh finished the innings at 222 runs for the loss of seven wickets at the end of 50 overs. Five of the six Indian bowlers picked at least one wicket, Washington Sundar bagged a couple of wickets whereas Mahipal Lomror managed none.

The Indians started at a startling pace as the opening pair amassed 67 runs for the wicket within six overs. Ishan Kishan was the first one to depart after scoring 24 runs in 14 balls.

Even after the fall of the wicket, Rishabh Pant, who scored 87 in the first match against Afghanistan, maintained the run-rate along with Virat Singh. But Pant soon fell in the eighth over after scoring a blistering half-century which included 9 fours and a couple of big ones.

Virat along with Amandeep Khare held the innings together and added 42 runs for the third wicket. Sarfaraz Khan fell for a duck and left India in a tricky situation at 116 for 4 after 21.2 overs. However, Sundar had different ideas in his mind as he went on to score 50 runs for the team and added 79 runs for the fifth wicket with Khare.

When Sundar lost his wicket in the 45th over, the home team still required another 25 runs in the remaining 34 balls which Lomror and Mayank made no fuss of and reached the required total with 8 balls to go.

The Indian U-19s have won all their matches in the tri-series thus far and will next play Afghanistan on November 27. On the contrary, Bangladesh U-19s will want to shake off the loss from their mind as they are set to face Afghan U-19s tomorrow at the same venue.
