Video: Batsman goes for a six in Natwest T20, hits a seagull instead!

In one of the more weird incidents on a cricket field, in a Natwest T20 Blast match between Sussex and Middlesex at Hove on 27th June 2014, an unfortunate seagull was hit by a powerful shot by Middlesex batsman Ryan Higgins.

When Higgins decided to slog on the leg side against the leg-spinner Will Beer, a shot which was surely going for a six, hit a passing seagull. The bird crashed on the pitch, but only seemed dazed by the accident. It flew away from the scene as the batsmen completed two runs. Watch the incident:

It was one lucky bird. Across the Atlantic though, it wouldn’t have been so safe!
