Wayne Parnell's wedding photos with fashion blogger wife Aisha Baker go viral

Wayne Parnell will join the rest of the South Africa team this week

South African cricketer Wayne Parnell had a meteoric rise in international cricket, but his subsequent career has not been as rosy. On Saturday, he married fashion blogger Aisha Baker at a mosque in Cape Town. It was a private ceremony with about 400 guests, and the pictures from the day have been doing the rounds on the social media.

After making his debut for South Africa at the age of 20 in 2009, Parnell had quickly developed a reputation for living the fast life. He was kicked out of his club team later that year after an incident at a night club in the city of Port Elizabeth. However, in 2011, he went through a period of intense self-examination and reflection, and decided to convert to Islam, changing his name to Waleed, which means ‘Newborn Son’.

It is said by his friends and teammates that he follows Islam very religiously, and that the last time he drank alcohol was during the 2011 IPL, immediately before his conversion.

The 26-year-old Parnell will get to spend only three days wit his newly wed wife before he joins the rest of the Proteas team for the tour of West Indies.
