Bangladeshi actress Najnin Akter Happy, famous in cricket circles for filing a rape case against Bangladesh World Cup hero Rubel Hossain earlier this year, talked in an interview about her whirlwind romance with the cricketer, saying that she is staying away from cricket so as not to invite further controversy, and that India’s Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly are her favourite cricketers.

“I have stopped watching cricket. Some are good memories, some aren’t. I try to clutch on to the good ones.

“It was madness, actually. We met at an event for cricketers before taking it forward through Facebook. It was a whirlwind period of love. Somehow, everything fell apart.”

Rubel was behind bars for three days before being released on bail in order to travel to Australia and participate in the World Cup. Following Bangladesh’s journey to the quarter-finals, she dropped the charges against him – thereby partially removing the taint from the profile of one the country’s most popular heroes of present times.

Najnin said, “I’ve not seen Dada(Sourav Ganguly) play, but he is a brilliant TV host(on a Bengali channel). Virat Kohli is too good; it’s great to see how he has stood by Anushka. I wish I was that lucky.

“And also, I want justice. I want to see it to the end. Actually, I still love Rubel, but only the man I knew a year back.”
