Mukund Bharadia of Spring Club shocked fancied Hitesh Kotwani to storm into the senior snooker elite round robin, in the Malabar Hill Club Maharashtra State Selection Billiards & Snooker Tournament on Sunday.
Bharadia cruised to a 3-0 win in Group D, with the margin of victory proving decisive in his surprise entry into the round robin where he qualified along with group topper Manav Panchal of the host club.
While Neel Vithlani of the host club fashioned three wins in a row to top Group G, Shahbaz Khan of Elphinstone Cricket Club prevailed over Kabil Badami of Bombay Gymkhana in his third and concluding tie to finish second and qualify.
The others to qualify were Asian 6-Red bronze medallist and title favourite Laxman Rawat, sub junior state champion Ishpreet Singh Chadha, Yogesh Sharma of Pune, junior state champion Jaiveer Dhingra and Hasan Badami of CCI.
