Civilisation and XCOM developer Firaxis Games has announced a latest entry into it’s 4X strategy series, Sid Meier’s Civilisation: Beyond Earth.

As per Gamespot, the game is scheduled to release sometime in the fall and it also is the first time a Civilization game has fully explored mankind’s future rather than playing in the past. Fans also find this game familiar to Firaxis’s 1999 hit, Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri, as both have humans on an alien world based theme.

This game will include players attempting to colonize on a new planet preventing the local wildlife and also shaping the fate of humanity. Some of the changes that were included in Sid Meier’s Civilization V such as hexagonal tiles and absence of unit stacking are also set to be included.

Civilization series creator Sid Meier said, “It’s been quite a while since Alpha Centauri came out.” He added, ” We’ve got a lot of new ideas, have learned a lot, and there’s so much new stuff we can do with a science fiction setting. The Civilization series has come so far and we can do a lot of new stuff now that we couldn’t do before. We had an opportunity with people [at Firaxis] who had some great ideas on how to put this together–and it just all came together! We’re happy to be able to have a chance to do it.”
