Bernie Ecclestone to buy back F1?

Is Bernie going to return?
Is Bernie going to return?

There's never a dull day in the realm of Formula 1, is there?

In a sport that's about uncertainty; who'll win, who's going to be the next best, and whether the most promising driver- expected to rule a race- will even be able to finish at the front should there be the faintest of skirmishes, given the sophisticated nature of machines and the high stakes involved, can there ever be anything certain about F1?

Right?

And already, the talk about what's believed to be the next big challenge starting at the sport is here, considering there's some truth to these talks, something which cannot be sufficiently explained.

Is Bernie Ecclestone, the former chief of F1, going to return to the head of the stable?

Is there any truth to these matters?

Amid a volley of questions that have reached every possible racing corner in the world where the sport is discussed and admired, followed and loved, Formula 1 has said that reports surrounding it being 'for sale' is, quite simply, 'rubbish.'

On the other hand, there are these rumours that have taken a bigger form than just being restricted to the paddock.

So what on earth is going on, one must be wondering?

In a sport that's all about speed, here's a rumour, well, call it what you may, that is gathering speed.

Liberty Media, the current owners of Formula 1, are expected to 'sell' out the sport. You read this right.

But that's just half the story.

Part of what's being anticipated is that- once and if sold- the man who'd be in charge of the world's most expensive contest, is believed to be none other than Bernie Ecclestone, the former chief of F1.

There remain a slew of challenges that the sport still needs to sufficiently address and quite frankly, hasn't really managed great answers for.

While on the one hand, F1 has to cater to younger fans and find out ways to drive digital revenues, there exists another existential challenge that concerns the nature of competition in the sport; can the existing teams be made even more competitive given the nature of rules?

There's so much at stake, it is believed, that these might have birthed the rumours that the pundits and fans; the entire community in general, are facing.

Interestingly, there are also emerging thoughts that what could be even possible is that Liberty Media is trying to find ways to reduce or decrease its stake in the international racing circuit.

In this regard, the ever-looming possibility of F1's old guard, Bernie Ecclestone, making a return to where he's always belonged, seemed real, and thus, gained weight.

But who's to know what might happen?

For now, popular racing update platform Wheels24.co.za has shared Bernie Ecclestone's view on the manner in which the sport has been run by Liberty Media:

"So far I have not seen a thing that makes sense. They (Liberty) are doing almost everything wrong," Blick newspaper quoted Ecclestone as saying recently.
