Lewis Hamilton has revealed that Nico Rosberg had admitted in Mercedes’ post race debrief that he deliberately ran into him ‘to prove a point.’
On second lap of the Belgian Grand Prix, Nico Rosberg tried a move past Hamilton at Le Combes to no avail. Hamilton sustained an immediate puncture and eventually retired from the race while Rosberg continued after pitting for a fresh nose to finish second.Hamilton suggests that Rosberg didn't back off to avoid this accident after what happened between the Mercedes pair at the Hungarian GP where the Brit ignored team's request to let Rosberg through despite the latter being on a different strategy.“It looked quite clear to me but we just had a meeting about it and he basically said he did it on purpose,” Hamilton told the written media. “He said he did it on purpose, he said he could have avoided it.”“He said 'I did it to prove a point', he basically said 'I did it to prove a point'. And you don't have to just rely on me, go and ask Toto, Paddy and all those guys who are not happy with him as well.”After the race, Rosberg extended his lead at the top of the standings to 29 points over Lewis Hamilton.
