FIA President safe in Nepal after earthquake

Todt and his wife, actor Michelle Yeoh were among those stranded in Nepal

FIA Preisdent Jean Todt, deputy President Graham Stoker and delegates from the governing organisation of motorsport are safe following the devastating earthquake that killed over 4000 people in Nepal.

According to a statement released by the FIA “All members of the FIA party and Congress delegates are safe and accounted for. The FIA greatly thanks the local National Sporting Authority, the Nepal Auto Sports Association (NASA) for its efforts in helping to ensure this outcome.”

The statement conveyed condolences to the families of the victims of the earthquake, and declared the FIA’s intention to “..establish a fund for charitable donations to be made to the people of Nepal as they attempt to rebuild their lives from this disaster.”

Todt, a former F1 team principal, and 44 delegates had been attending the inaugural Asia-Pacific Sport Regional Congress.
