Fernando Alonso recently talked about how Lance Stroll can help him as a teammate in Aston Martin.

Ever since Fernando Alonso joined Aston Martin in 2023, he has been the dominant driver in the team. The 42-year-old drove brilliantly in the first few races of the 2023 season and bagged a total of eight podiums that year, compared to Stroll who had zero podium finishes. The Spaniard managed to score 206 points and secured fourth place in the table, while his teammate was down in 10th with only 74 points.

Though Fernando Alonso is no longer a frontrunner in the 2024 F1 season, he is still ahead of his teammate in terms of championship points.

Speaking at the official press conference ahead of the 2024 F1 Chinese GP, Alonso, however, explained the important role Lance Stroll plays in improving Aston Martin's 2024 car. He underlined the difference in driving styles, and Stroll being a lot more sensitive to certain areas that can result in crucial feedback. The veteran F1 driver believes that his young teammate's feedback can be important for the team to make the car faster.

"Lance and myself, we are trying to help the team as much as we can. I think we have two different driving styles in some conditions, we have two different feelings with the car. I think Lance is a lot more sensitive to things than what I am, which is very important for the team. I think the analysis that Lance can reach and can feedback to the team is crucial to us and to improve the car," Alonso said.

Fernando Alonso later admitted that to unleash the full potential of the AMR24, he would require help from his teammate.

"To reach 100% of the potential of the car, sometimes I'm not able to do [that] without the help from my team-mate," he added.

Lance Stroll addresses the performance difference between him and Fernando Alonso at the 2024 F1 Japanese GP qualifying

Lance Stroll recently talked about his poor qualifying result at the 2024 F1 Japanese GP and addressed how quick Fernando Alonso was with the team's new upgrades.

The Canadian F1 driver was eliminated in the Q1 session and was placed P16 for the Grand Prix at Suzuka. In contrast, his teammate Alonso managed to secure P5 in qualifying.

Speaking with F1TV after qualifying, Lance Stroll said that he had no answers as to why he was so sluggish, especially since his teammate's car looked decent enough.

“Everything felt fine. Just very slow today. No pace in the car and no pace in myself in my car. The car looks quick and Fernando was quick, so I don’t know. I don’t have more answers,” Stroll said.

In the 2024 F1 Japanese GP, Fernando Alonso finished P6, while Lance Stroll managed to gain some positions and secure P12.
