Since the Canadian GP stewards expressed their inability to process the request of Force India of reviewing the penalty against Sergio Pérez for causing the collision with Felipe Massa on the last lap of the Canadian GP, before this week's Austrian GP, the FIA has designated the stewards of the Austrian GP to do so.

After carefully analysing some new elements put forwards by Force India, Stewards decided to uphold the decision they made two weeks ago . The stewards had a reunion this morning at 9.00AM, where they agreed that there were enough circumstances to review the case since in the moment when the decision was made, Pérez was in the hospital so he couldn’t defend himself. Further, Force India has also provided the telemetry data to support their drive."We note for the record that these are exceptional circumstances, namely where the driver was taken to hospital and unable to communicate with his team or attend the hearing, and this determination is not to be considered a precedent."The final meeting to discuss a 5-grid penalty imposed on Sergio Perez after the Canadian Grand Prix took place on Friday. Williams representatives and Felipe Massa attended the meeting. The FIA issued a statement saying Pérez was wrong trying to defend his position in the braking point and the penalty stays.The statement says: "The driver of car 11 contended that the new elements(s) evidenced that in defending his position he was exercising his right, under Article 20.4 of the 2014 Formula One Sporting Regulations, to use the whole track. However, it was clear to the Stewards that the defense of his position occurred in the braking area. Article 20.4 specifically states that any right to defend by using the whole track must occur prior to any braking area. Accordingly the driver of Car 11 was not entitled to defend his position in the manner he did."After the meeting, Pérez showed his disappointment for the result: "We went there to show all the evidence that we had, the data, the line and the pictures that we couldn't show in Montreal. For that reason we felt very confident that we had the proof. The stewards looked to be quite sensible and agreed to an extent with everything I said, but then the situation didn't change at all.”"I'm a bit disappointed, but it's time to move on and tomorrow it will be a big pain to be five places back on this track that is so small and difficult to overtake. I don't want to keep talking about the accident and what happened and what did not. It's time to move on together as a team and find everything we can for Sunday. Tomorrow will not be so important for us, it will be Sunday."
