According to reports in Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport, Pirelli is all set to cement its position as the tyre suppliers of Formula One despite rumors arising about a potential deal of the FIA with Michelin.

Pirelli’s deal is all set to expire this year but the tyre manufacturers are keen to stay in the F1 scene. They have already signed deals with the eleven teams and the reports suggest that the official deal with FIA is just a whisker away.

The news was backed by the latest deal of Pirelli in which the company emerged as the official tyre supplier to F1 feeder categories, GP2 and GP3.

The rumor about Michelin returning was a direct result of the favoring they got from Jean Todt. However, after the Italian Grand Prix Todt himself admitted that Pirelli are most likely to stay for the long run.
