Italian company Pirelli have confirmed that they will supply the tyres for F1 races until the end of the 2016 season.

Pirelli have decided that they will implement the changes to the sporting regulations about the testing of tyres after a meeting with Formula One racing’s governing body, the FIA, and the teams.

It was also announced that each team will have to spend at least one of their eight days of in-season testing exclusively for the testing of tyres. There will be 12 days of official pre-season testing that will be dedicated exclusively to wet tyre testing.

The first pre-season test of 2014 is a four-day session in Jerez, Spain, which starts form January 28.

Lotus drivers Pastor Maldonado and Romain Grosjean will not take part in the first pre-season test. Their technical director Nick Chester has stated: “We’ve decided the Jerez test isn’t ideal for our plans.”
