2013 SAFF Championship: Afghanistan vs India - India ahead in head-to-head

In the evening, later today, India take on Afghanistan in the final match of the 2013 SAFF Championship at the Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal and if one looks at the history books then India is clearly ahead, though there is no favourite going into the game.

Overall India and Afghanistan have met 14 times in international football matches with India winning 11, Afghanistan winning only once, and two of the matches ending in a draw. In these 14 matches, India have scored 30 goals and Afghanistan 6 in total.

The biggest victory margin was a 4-0 for India, which it achieved twice in 2003 and 2011 – both at the SAFF Championships.

The last couple of matches between these two nations were played at the 2011 SAFF Cup. In the group stage the match had ended 1-1, but in the final India won 4-0 to defend their trophy.
