3 must watch football movies

NO

Goal!

A typical rags to riches story, this movie is one of the best football movies as there were a lot of real footballers in this movie which added to its charisma. The story is about a poor kid named Santiago Munez who aspires to become a soccer star. The mere theme of the movie is enough to interest any ardent fan and Kuno Becker’s portrayal of Santiago genuinely strikes a chord with every young footballer with a dream. The first and second part were brilliant but the third part was a let down! Still worth watching as big names like David Beckham, Zidane and Raul have been a part of the movie series.

The Damned United

The story is based on one of the greatest managers of English football history Brian Clough. Like Shane Warne was the greatest captain Australia never had, Clough was the greatest manager the English national side never had. Michael Sheen as the legendary manager is fantastic. Also the story line tends to keep you hooked as you don’t often see a manager managing the club he hates. The ups and downs of the managerial career and also the high dramatic quotient is the high point of this movie. Less player centric and more manager centric a bit weird but yet highly entertaining!

Looking For Eric

The mere fact that the movie involves a legend named “Eric the King Cantona” is enough to make a billion people watch this movie. The story deals with a man named Eric who contemplates suicide only to give up the idea after having hallucinations involving his hero Cantona. The legendary Eric begins to repair the life of the down-trodden Eric. The movie is not a typical football movie but it conveys a subtle message that football can change your life. Well at-least a tryst with the legend surely can! A must watch if you are a Manchester United fan!

There are several such movies like Mean Machine, Bend it like Beckham, Football Factory that deal with the theme of football but they don’t come close to the level of entertainment these movies can provide.
