Reports: Adam Lallana completes medical ahead of move to Liverpool

Southampton playmaker Adam Lallana completed a medical at Liverpool’s Melwood training facility last night ahead of his proposed £25 million move from Southampton, writes the Daily Star.

The 26-year-old is poised to sign a five-year contract with the Anfield outfit and become Brendan Rodgers’ third signing of the summer, following the arrival of fellow Saints star Rickie Lambert and Emre Can.

The deal completes a dramatic upturn in fortunes for Lallana, who had spent the majority of his career in the lower leagues before rising to prominence following Southampton’s promotion to the Premier League and the introduction of an entertaining style of football by former boss Mauricio Pochettino.

As a result of his outstanding displays at club level, the midfielder was named in Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad this summer, which intensified the speculation surrounding his future.

However, following the Three Lions’ premature exit from the tournament in Brazil, Liverpool have moved quickly to secure one of their primary transfer targets with a renewed bid of £25 million.

Plenty have baulked at the high price tag, but the doubts about the fee will soon be forgotten if Lallana thrives in the Merseysiders; front line during their Champions League campaign next season.
