December 7, 2015 was a special day. Why? Adidas unveiled the ‘History Pack’ on that day. History Pack from Adidas is a limited edition goalkeeper gloves honoring the greatest goalkeepers of the previous generation. Few of the greatest goalkeepers of this generation wore the History Pack during the Champions League games in December to pay tribute to the goalkeeping icons of the past.

Technically, the History Pack is similar to Ace Zones Pro – Adidas’s premium goalkeeping gloves for the year 2015. These goalkeeping gloves feature all the bells and whistles of Ace Zones Pro. These goalkeeping gloves are made of 68% latex and 32% elastane foam. We see a contact maximizer that increases the contact surface area while performing a save.

4mm Nova Foam makes a return with the History Pack. Adidas’s patented Nova Foam ensures that there is maximum control during both wet and dry conditions. Expect a snug fit with these gloves. In addition, these goalkeeping gloves feature ‘Fingersave’ spines. These spines ensure that there is even distribution of impact (Revolutionary technology from Adidas!).

Adidas released three designs under this limited edition pack. Now, let us dive in deeper.

The first design is based on the gloves worn by German goalkeeper Toni Schumacher in 1982 FIFA World Cup. These black and white gloves with red/orange decals are a classic. Adidas did a fine job with these gloves. Bold Adidas branding on back-of-the-hand area is eye catching. FC Porto’s Iker Casillas wore these goalkeeping gloves during the Champions League game on December 10, 2015.

The second design in the History Pack is inspired from the gloves worn by the French goalkeeper Fabien Barthez during the 1998 World FIFA Cup. These white goalkeeping gloves with black and red/orange decals is a visual treat. Adidas went for a simple design approach with these gloves. White Adidas branding on back-of-the-hand, 1998 branding on the wrist area go really well with this design. Arsenal’s Petr Cech debuted these gloves during the Champions League game on December 10, 2015.

The third design in this iconic History Pack limited edition draws its inspiration from the gloves worn the legendary Oliver Khan in 1997. Among all the three gloves, this is the most spectacular. Adidas combines white, blue, black and orange/red in a fine manner. Simply put, these gloves are stunning. Unlike the other gloves, we see Adidas branding on the forefinger area rather than on the back-of-the-hand area. The subtle design details on these pair of gloves are brilliant. Who better to debut these gloves other than Germany’s current number 1. Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer debuted theses gloves during the Champions League game on December 10, 2015. Well, he had a fantastic day during that match against Dinamo Zagreb.
