Adnan Januzaj: "I loved watching Zinedine Zidane, Juan Roman Riquelme and Kaka"

Manchester United midfielder Adnan Januzaj has revealed that the number 10 role is the position that he most admires in football.

The 19-year-old has been a leading light in a disappointing season for the Red Devils and has produced a string of impressive performances during his breakthrough season while several more experienced players have been below bar.

Despite his tender years Januzaj has been tipped for big things at Old Trafford and the Belgian born youngster has now revealed a trio of idols that he watched whilst growing up and would love to replicate.

“As a kid I always watched the big players and big names and I loved watching Zinedine Zidane, Juan Roman Riquelme and Kaka. It’s difficult singling out one player but I looked at those three in particular and liked the way they played.”

“Zidane, Riquelme and Kaka are all number 10s and that’s the type of player I admire most. I played in the number 10 role against Norwich City in the Capital One Cup game earlier this season and really enjoyed it, but I can also play on the wing and I’m used to playing there,” he declared.

Januzaj clearly has a desire to move infield at some point in his career but with Wayne Rooney, who recently penned a huge new deal at the club, ahead of him in the pecking order David Moyes.
