Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is looking to make a big summer move for Barcelona’s star man, Neymar Jr. However, Neymar’s agent Wagner Ribeiro has come out and dismissed the speculation flying around Old Trafford, according to Sky Sports.

Three days on from Pedro’s last minute snub and making his unexpected move to their bitter rivals Chelsea, there were rumours stating that Neymar could be interested in making a move to United. He could be the next player to exit the Catalan Club, but it looks highly unlikely this summer.

The Brazillian is viewed as the solution to United’s attacking problems and United CEO Ed Woodward is reportedly keen on landing the Brazillian at Old Trafford before the transfer window shuts on September 1st.

Neymar is happy at Barcelona: Agent

But Neymar’s agent Wagner Ribeiro has ended the reports linking him with a shocking move to Manchester United. Manchester United reportedly wanted to make Neymar their marquee signing this summer, but his agent has come out and insisted that Neymar is happy to remain a Barcelona player.

“There is nothing. He has three years left on his contract,” Ribeiro said.

"The British newspapers are very speculative. Barcelona have never thought of selling Neymar and he is very happy there." he added, whose client is still recovering from mumps which has kept him out of the team for a couple of weeks now.

No return date on Neymar

When asked about Neymar’s possible return date, Barcelona coach Luis Enrique did not give an exact timeline.

“He is just starting the season and will have to go through a normal recovery process,” Enrique said.

“His evolution will dictate when he will be ready to play. One, two, three weeks. I don't know."

Neymar looks to have finally settled at Barcelona despite some below par peformances in his first season for the club. He finished as the top scorer in UEFA Champions League with 10 goals and had a successful campaign in the league netting 22 goals and 7 more in the Copa Del Rey.

United are desperate to land a marquee signing this summer having failed to land their key targets Pedro and Nicolas Otamendi who both snubbed them for their direct rivals Chelsea and Manchester City. Now that all speculation has been dismissed by Neymar’s agent, United will be looking to move on to their next realsitic target reported to be Antoine Griezmann from Athletico Madrid.
